Project: Distributed High Availability Solution for Microsoft Exchange

A large hedge fund with branches in New York, Hong Kong and London - needed capability for high-availability email delivery across two locations 45 miles apart, with active fail-over. Once the design criteria were established, deployment involved Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) to span the two locations, one in New York City and the other in New Jersey.

 

Veritas Storage Foundation 4.3 was linked to Microsoft Exchange with real time replication. Storage Foundation 4.1 was linked with the Oracle RAC 9i Sun Sparc platform via DWDM, with real time replication. Veritas Storage Foundation 4.3 was implemented for Windows Clustered Services to provide Bloomberg data feeds to the database and Apache Web Server to an Oracle database.

 

The Storage Area Networks (SAN) were built using IPStor from FalconStor for virtualization of EMC Symmetrix, EMC CLARiiON, and StorageTek SANs, replicating data from the United States, Europe, and Asia. The SAN switching infrastructure was constructed from the Cisco MDS 9000 product line of Fibre-Switches.
