Azure Migration with Windows EOS Upgrade

AN MDS MICROSOFT SUCCESS STORY

MDS migrated an IT services company located in New Jersey with about 200 users to Microsoft Azure while also upgrading Windows Server

The Challenge

This client needed assistance with their migration from their aging on-premise server infrastructure to the cloud. They were using an on-premise environment consisting of aging HP servers running on Windows Server 2003, which came to the end of support. The client was aware that running on an aging infrastructure posed not only a security risk but a risk of prolonged downtime in the event of a failure. They also asked that MDS help decommission the on-premise server and leverage the Azure suite of solutions for production applications, Disaster Recovery, and security.

The Solution

After MDS evaluated their environment, we were able to implement the following:

  • Microsoft Azure as the cloud solution and included Azure AD.
  • Upgraded their Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2019.
  • Modernized their technology by leveraging the cloud for their production applications, Disaster Recovery, and security.
  • Set up M365 on their mobile devices.
  • Moved their laptop and surfaces with OneDrive for Business.

The Result

Overall, these solutions helped to modernize their technology and create a secure and operational mobile workforce. These changes to their infrastructure allowed them to be prepared for the COVID-19 pandemic that hit later that year. Management was confident in their workforce going remote while still being productive and collaborative.

Additionally, by upgrading their Windows Server, the risk of security breaches and losing data was resolved.
